Publication date: Wed, 22 Apr 2026

The IPSA–AAPS Africa Online Workshop Series (AOWS) is a new initiative designed to support graduate students and junior scholars at Africa-based institutions. The program offers mentoring, skills development and networking opportunities, with a focus on strengthening research design, academic writing, and professional development.

Applications for the program’s 2026 edition will be open from 8 June to 9 July 2026. Workshops will be led by experienced scholars and conducted in both English and French. Participants who complete the program will receive a certificate.

In each edition, the AOWS will focus on a critical contemporary issue determined by the Steering Committee. For the inaugural edition of 2026, the workshop will explore the Politics of Sustainable Development and Agrarian Governance, examining themes related to food security and agricultural policy, including the political, economic, and environmental drivers of food systems and rural transformation.

The AOWS project was first announced and discussed during a special Ðǿմ«Ã½panel presented at the 18th Biennial Conference of the African Association of Political Science (AAPS), held in Dakar from 7 to 10 December 2025.
