This section invites contributions exploring how contemporary crises - from global conflicts to the climate permacrisis - are reshaping the relationship between gender and politics across diverse contexts. Amid democratic backsliding, rising authoritarianism, and the electoral success of far-right ideologies, gender has become a key terrain of political contestation. We welcome panels examining how gendered power relations intersect with processes of democratic erosion and transformation, adopting intersectional perspectives attentive to race, class, sexuality, and geopolitical inequalities. The section also seeks to foster dialogue on the evolving role of feminist politics in responding to these challenges. We encourage contributions investigating how feminist actors – within institutions and through social movements - mobilize to defend and expand reproductive rights and sexual orientation, gender identity and sexual characteristics (SOGIESC) rights. What strategies, alliances, and forms of political innovation are emerging? Beyond retrenchment, the section engages with broader structural transformations shaping contemporary gender politics, including changes in labor markets and family forms, as well as the societal effects of more progressive gender regimes, often linked to new forms of gender and generational polarization. Contributions may explore how these

dynamics intersect with the increasing visibility of gender fluidity and LGBTIQ+ identities, and their implications for political participation and electoral behavior. Finally, the section welcomes critical perspectives on the entanglements between gender, nationalism, global power structures, including work on homo- and femonationalism and decolonial approaches.
