ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½

The second edition of IPSA’s online Work-in-Progress Sessions (WiPS) was successfully held from 13-19 July 2026, providing members of IPSA’s Research Committees (RCs) and Collective Members with a global platform on which to present and discuss their research in progress. Organized by WiPS Coordinator Prof. Keiichi Kubo (Waseda University, Japan) and the ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½Secretariat, the sessions were held virtually.

During the course of seven days, 150 registered participants discussed 111 papers over 37 workshops on various topics, including populism, polarization and democratic resilience, democracy and inequality, global disorder, political elites, democracy in times of crisis, changes in the emerging world order, disinformation and human rights, religion and nationalism, and indigenous politics. Each work-in-progress paper was presented and discussed in depth, with all workshop participants and chairs providing feedback. 

IPSA-WiPS has already received positive feedback from many participants, highlighting the value of this platform for scholarly exchange and collaboration.

ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½ the Project

First launched as part of IPSA’s 75th anniversary celebrations in 2024, the project aims to establish a series of interactive workshops where ÐÇ¿Õ´«Ã½members can present and engage in in-depth discussions about their ongoing research with colleagues who share similar interests and topics. IPSA-WiPS offers a unique opportunity to advance scholarly dialogue and foster collaborative research within the global political science community. The next edition is scheduled to take place in 2028.
