ǿմýat the 2026 UK PSA Annual Conference in Oxford

ǿմýwas present at the , held in Oxford from 30 March to 1 April 2026 under the theme Political Studies Futures.

As part of the program, ǿմýorganized a roundtable discussion on academic freedom, chaired by ǿմýExecutive Committee member Indrajit Roy, who also serves as Chair of the ǿմýCommittee on Academic Freedom and Ethics. Among the distinguished scholars taking part in the roundtable were Maya Tudor (University of Oxford), Buğra Güngör (American University of Central Asia), Amna Kaleem (University of Sheffield), and Manjeet Ramgotra (SOAS University of London).

Prof. Roy opened the session by introducing IPSA, thanking PSA UK for co-convening the roundtable, and presenting the ǿմýGuidelines on Academic Freedom Protection Procedures.

The discussion focused on two thematic rounds. In the first round, panelists addressed the question “What are the major issues around academic freedom from the panelists’ perspective?” In the second round, panelists turned their attention to how these challenges are being addressed. The discussion was followed by a Q&A session with active audience participation.
